Kondo Koi Farm, located in Aichi Prefecture, is a name known worldwide for the amazing patterns he manages to achieve in his koi. Kondo has truly specialized in breeding subtle, refined fish and is especially known for the maruten. Maruten is the spot on the head of the koi. He is sometimes referred to as the king of maruten because of this. His expertise in breeding kohaku, sanke, and showa with these beautiful maruten spots is unparalleled, and his fish are beloved by koi enthusiasts around the world. Kondo is also remarkable because he has the skill to create his own bloodlines. Although influences from well-known breeders such as Isa in his showa and SFF and Dainichi in his kohaku can be found, it is safe to say that Kondo has created his own unique lines. By always striving for perfection in patterns and beni, he has bred koi that can actually be considered as Kondo bloodlines. Many of the parent fish are also self-bred koi, and he has been producing koi of the highest quality for years.
The Marks Koi Cup 2024/25 – Kondo Edition:
Once again, a unique opportunity After the success of the first Marks Koi Cup, which is still ongoing, there is now a second edition! This time we are working with Kondo Koi Farm, making this a very special edition. As you have read, Kondo Koi Farm is highly regarded. This edition of the Marks Koi Cup offers you the chance to acquire a top-quality koi directly from Kondo Koi Farm. We have selected 50 beautiful tosai at Kondo. These tosai are still swimming in the mud ponds and will later be selected by the breeder based on their quality. The best 50 will participate in the Marks Koi Cup. This selection includes sanke, showa, and kohaku.
Azukari and guarantee All 50 tosai will stay at Kondo, which is called Azukari, to grow under the best conditions until they come to the Netherlands. They will be kept in one of the best indoor ponds, where only the very best fish are allowed. This means that the tosai will grow up in the best possible environment without other fish around. During the Azukari, the fish’s mortality is fully covered, providing you with extra security. Thanks to the indoor pond and Kondo’s care, the quality of the fish will be enhanced while the risk of problems is minimized. To participate in the Marks Koi Cup, the price is €695 (incl. VAT) per fish, including the Azukari until November 2025. Transport costs, expected to be around €75, are not included. When you participate, you can join the WhatsApp group and must make a down payment of €295.
Selection process
The selection of the koi is done in close cooperation between Mark and Kondo. You can indicate your preference for the variety. Please note that you may be called from Japan to participate via video in the selection process if you wish. This could be in the middle of the night (01:00 – 03:00) due to the time difference with Japan. You can also leave the selection entirely to Kondo and Mark. At the time of selection, the koi will be about 20 cm in size, and after the Azukari, as nisai, they are expected to be between 40 and 60 cm in size.
